El Sol Science and Arts Academy, a publicly chartered school in Santa Ana serving more than 800 low income Latino children, has become an academic model for the nation.Students achieve top marks in academic performance, health and wellness, allowing El Sol to stand out year after year as a California distinguished school. El Sol has sustained excellence despite budget constraints and until recently, deteriorating, overcrowded temporary portable units.The team of Project Frog, HMC Architects and Bernards completed the first phase of campus development in January 2014. The outcome was a two-story, 19,000 square foot learning center with 12 state-of-the-art-classrooms. Each classroom features:

  • superior indoor air quality
  • thermal comfort
  • daylight autonomy
