El Sol Academy Math Club
2008
The El Sol Math Club began meeting in October of 2007. They meet every Monday and Thursday and have prepared themselves for Math Field Day. There were two Math Field Days: one for Santa Ana schools and another for the entire Northern half of Orange County.
Our students represented our school well and brought home a total of 9 medals in all of the different areas of competition: Mathematical Reasoning, Geometry and Measurement, Mental Math, Algebra, Estimation and Probability and Problem Solving.
The following is a list of the medals that the different grade levels won:
Orange County Math Field Day
4th Grade - 3rd place in Mathematical Reasoning
Santa Ana Unified Math Field Day
4th Grade 5th place in Algebra & Functions
3rd place in Mental Math
5th place in Mathematical Reasoning
5th Grade 1st place in Geometry & Measurement
6th Grade 1st place in Measurement & Geometry
1st place in Mental Math
1st place in Algebra & Functions
3rd place in Estimation

A Little About Us
At Santa Ana Math Field Day, our students worked collaboratively to construct towers, solve Algebraic problems and lots of Math in general.

The El Sol Math Club is part of the After School Program at El Sol Science and Arts Academy. It is open for all interested 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students. For more information please contact Tristan Gude, After School coordinator, or Tim Weyland, Math Club teacher.
