The Western Youth Services (WYS) Behavioral Health Aide (BHA) is a mental health professional who serves to coordinate and provide vital mental health Western Youth Services logoservices to the students and families of El Sol Academy. It is a primary function of the BHA to develop, implement, and coordinate interventions related to students’ behavioral goals and individualized treatment or behavioral plans. The BHA, in their work with students, addresses targeted behavior related to improving school performance as well as the students’ relationships with peers, family members and school staff.

The BHA may provide: Individualized skill-building support, case management / consultation and linkage to vital community resources in order to help students thrive.

The BHA also emphasizes preventative services and may offer a variety of schoolwide interventions in order to promote Social Emotional Learning (e.g. Lunch Club, Classroom Workshops, small group intervention, and more).

Any of the above mentioned services, from preventative to more specialized, can be provided by the BHA virtually or in-person as permitted.
