ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

Enrollment to El Sol

Families interested in enrolling their child may submit an enrollment application online during the designated application period. We encourage families to attend an information session so they can make an informed decision about joining the El Sol Academy community; however, attendance is not required to apply.

If the number of applications received exceeds the number of available seats in any grade level, a public random lottery will be conducted in accordance with California charter school law and El Sol Academy’s enrollment policies.

Lottery preferences may be provided as permitted by law, including:

  • Students who reside within the Santa Ana Unified School District attendance area;
  • Siblings of currently enrolled El Sol Academy students; and
  • Children of El Sol Academy employees, consistent with applicable enrollment regulations.

Admission to El Sol

Upon acceptance to El Sol Academy, families will be required to complete an enrollment packet and provide all required documentation. Enrollment documents may include proof of age, proof of residency, a Home Language Survey, immunization records, emergency contact information, and, if applicable, a copy of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504 Plan, or other educational records.

El Sol Academy is a tuition-free public charter school open to all students. Admission is not based on academic achievement, disability status, English language proficiency, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or any other protected characteristic. If applications exceed available capacity, admission will be determined through a public random lottery.

For questions regarding enrollment, admissions, or the lottery process, please contact the El Sol Academy office at info@elsolacademy.org or call (714) 543-0023.

Lottery Results

The lottery will be conducted Live on YouTube. Following the lottery, all applicants will be notified of their enrollment status. Students not selected for admission will be placed on a grade-level waitlist in the order determined by the lottery.

Should seats become available before or during the school year, they will be offered to students on the waitlist in order. Families offered admission will be contacted and provided with instructions to complete enrollment requirements. Enrollment offers must be accepted within the specified timeframe to secure placement.

Please note that waitlists do not carry over from one school year to the next. Families wishing to enroll in a future school year must submit a new application during the appropriate enrollment period.

Siblings of students placed during the random public lottery will also be placed depending upon space available at the given grade level during the lottery process. If space is not available in the sibling’s grade level, that sibling will be placed on the Sibling Priority Wait List. The remaining names will be placed on a waiting list based on the order drawn from the random public lottery (at each grade level).

  1. Complete the online application located on this page.
  2. Once your lottery application has been submitted and reviewed, the staff will email you a lottery number if spaces are available for the grade level applied or a waitlist number if there are no spaces available.
  3. Students with lottery number that was selected will be contacted by the office staff for enrollment end of June to early July.
    1. All other students are waitlisted and if space is available, students will be offered enrollment.

Applications close after the lottery window.

You do not need to submit a new application if your student is currently enrolled with El Sol Science and Arts Academy.

You are welcome to check in to know if spaces became available and or if your child moved up on this list. We will have a clear understanding once enrollment is finalized with our current students end of July to early August.

The Waiting List is discarded and renewed at the end of each school year. You must proceed with Open Enrollment every year in January to remain on the Waiting List.

Please be advised that, due to the high volume of applications and requests we receive, we can only offer individual tours when admission is offered.

El Sol Academy does not charge students any fees for enrollment.
