3 Year Old  Co-Op Preschool Program

Pre School Program

El Sol Academy offers two extraordinary half-day preschool programs: the 3 year-old program. The program follows the 90/10 model. The students are taught 90% in Spanish and 10% in English, which develops bilingualism, bi-literacy and cross cultural competencies for all students. The preschool classroom is equipped with play areas, a mini library and hands on manipulatives to develop academic skills.

The 3 year-old program

The 3 year-old program is designed to teach students how to be independent and speak and express themselves orally. It teaches students how to develop social skills, adapt, listen, follow rules, focus on activities, and more.

At the end of the school year, the students should be exposed to:

  1. letters and sounds of the alphabet
  2. counting numbers 1 – 10basic figures
  3. colors
  4. literacy
  5. able to recognize their name
  6. able to sit still for at least 3 – 5 minutes and listen to a story

Schedule  The 3 year-old program is offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 am – 11:00 am or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Does my child need to be potty trained before attending preschool?

Yes, your child needs to be potty trained before enrolling in any of our preschools programs

Is there nap time during preschool?

Due to the fact that these are half-day programs, preschool does not provide nap time.

Will my child be confused if s/he is taught in Spanish 90% of the time?

Research has shown that bilingual education does not cause confusion in children. In fact, a bilingual education develops cognitive functioning in several academic areas, such as math.

Is the preschool program part of the school lunch program?

Due to the fact that these are half-day programs, the school only provides a healthy snack for preschool students.

How long is the preschool program?

Both preschool programs’ academic year go from September to first week June.

Does my child need to wear a uniform to attend preschool?

Yes, students can wear navy blue or khaki bottoms and red, navy blue, or white shirts with sleeves and collars. El Sol t-shirts are allowed.

Does the school offer after school program care?

The after school program is only offered to TK to 8th grade students. Therefore, preschool students cannot be enrolled in it.
